Glossary Definition
Bibliography An alphabetical list of all the resources used to complete your assignment, even if you haven't quoted from them.
Citation / Citing Making reference to other people's work in your assignment.
Copyright The legal protective given to authors which protects them against unauthorised copying of their work.
Direct Quotation Using someone else's exact words in your assignment within speech marks.
Paraphrasing Rephrasing the author's words to imply the same meaning.
Plagiarism Using someone else's words, works or ideas as your own without acknowledging the author.
Reference List An alphabetical list of all the resources used or quoted in your assignment by author surname.
Summarising Reading a topic, thinking about the key points and writing them in your own words.
