Requesting Items From Other Libraries

Please be aware: Due to ongoing technological issues with British Library, requests for articles can take up to 10 working days to process. If you require any assistance with research and using the Library systems to find relevant articles and information, please get in touch with your Library Information Adviser.

If a journal article is not available online or from one of our Libraries, we can request this for you from another library. This is known as an Inter-Library Loan (ILL).

Who can request Inter-Library Loans?

If you are on a Higher Education (HE) course, you can use the Inter-Library Loan service to support your studies. If you are not on an HE course but need to request an item via Inter-Library Loan please contact the Library for further information.

How many requests can be made?

Requests are subject to a quota linked to the year of your course as shown below.

HE Students Free £1 per Request
Year 1 or equivalent 3 10
Year 2 or equivalent 5 10
Year 3 or equiavlent 10 10
Masters 20 10

Requests made above your quota will be charged at full cost, which could be up to £19 per item. However, we will advise you of any full cost requests before they are ordered.

How do I make a request?

Requests can be made online via our Discover More Search Tool.  If the item cannot be located via Discover More please manually complete the ILL Request Form below.
