Work Experience: Industry Placements

Banner Industry Placements

What is an Industry Placement?

Industry Placements have been introduced as part of new technical training programmes known as T-Levels. Presently at Lincoln College we are delivering T levels with local employers, in Health Science, Early Years and Teaching, Engineering and Accounting. You must be enrolled on one of these T level courses to be able to take part in a T level placement

  • The same principles as work experience apply, but takes place over an extended period of 45 to 60 days or minimum of 315 hours over the 2 year programme
  • It will allow you to practice what you have been taught at college, gaining confidence and skills to progress into a working environment
  • Each industry placement student is assigned a Placement Adviser who will be in contact on a regular basis, support with focusing on targets and communicate with the student’s workplace

Support on a Placement

You will be assigned a Workplace Supervisor to support you on a day to day basis. Your Placement Adviser can liaise with you, your Progress Coach, and your Workplace Supervisor to support your progress.

Placement Advisers will ensure:

  • You are offered a placement at an optimum time for your development
  • You are well prepared for placement including transport, uniform and equipment you may need
  • You understand what is expected of you, with a written set of targets being agreed between yourself, your Employer and your Placement Adviser before you begin your placement
  • Parents and Guardians are well informed and are welcome to contact Placement Advisers at any time if they have questions or concerns
