Financial Support: 20+ Childcare Support

20+ Childcare Fund

The 20+ Childcare Fund can contribute up to 100% of your total childcare costs for the days or hours you have a timetabled lesson at college. After deductions (e.g. government funding for 2 and 3 year olds) the maximum award per academic year is £8600.00 (£200 per week) regardless of number of children claimed for and/or childcare providers used.

If you are in receipt or become eligible for Government Funded Hours, these hours must be used in the first instance. The 20+ Childcare Fund will only support additional hours beyond the Government funded hours based on your timetabled provision. If you are not eligible for Government Funded Hours, you can apply to the 20+ Childcare Fund for the full cost of your childcare based on your timetabled provision up to £200 per week

To receive support you must be aged 20+ on 31/08/2024, enrolled on an ESFA funded course and be in receipt of one of the benefits below:

  • Income Support        
  • Universal Credit - but only where assessed annual net earnings when added to your Universal Credit monthly payments does not exceed £40,000 per year.
  • Working Tax Credit/Child Tax Credit, but only where Total Income added to your Tax Credit award for the period shown on your Final or Amended Tax Credit Award Notice for 2024/2025 is less than £40,000.

If you are under 20 on 31/08/2024 you may be eligible for Childcare Support through the Care to Learn Scheme.

To prevent your application being delayed please ensure you upload all of the requested financial information, these can be PDF's, photographs or screenshots. We will let you know by email/letter within 10 working days (15 days during Autumn Term) whether or not your application has been successful or if we need further evidence.

  • Once you have submitted this Application Form to the Financial Support Team you will be notified within 10 working days if any further information is required to support your application.
  • 2.
  • If eligible, you will be sent Part 2 of the Childcare Fund application form, which your chosen Childcare Provider will need to complete along with the 20+ Childcare Fund Terms and Conditions which you will need to read and sign.
  • 3.
  • Once both of these documents have been returned to the Financial Support Team, your award will be assessed and payment arrangements will be sent to your chosen childcare provider.

If your application is unsuccessful we will email you and let you know the reason why. If you believe the decision made not to support your application is incorrect you can appeal in writing to the Financial Support Team Leader, Student Services, Lincoln College, Monks Road, Lincoln, LN2 5HQ

These Funds are made available through the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and are not available to learners on Full Cost courses, Higher Education courses, Apprenticeships or any waged training undertaken. Other rules and regulations apply, including residency criteria.

If you are 19+ and have chosen to fund your course by an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL), we need confirmation from Student Finance England that you have successfully applied for an Advanced Learner Loan and have also had your National Insurance Number verified by them before we are able to make payments to your Childcare Provider.
