19+ Learner Support Fund

If you are aged 19+ on 31/08/2024 you can get help with course related costs through our means tested Learner Support Fund.

  • Uniform and equipment considered by your curriculum area essential for your course, up to a maximum of £150.00
  • Travel to College, up to a maximum of £60 per week (other rules apply)
  • Cost of appropriate Rail Cards
  • Travel to College arranged Work Experience and/or Industry Placements (other rules may apply)
  • Travel to a maximum of 2 Higher Education interviews (proof of interview and travel cost required)
  • Free College Meals (for students aged 19 to 24 only), where they or their parents are in receipt of an eligible benefit or support, and they are a 19+ continuer (on the same course at the same level as they started in the academic year they turned 19), or they are subject to an Education Health Care Plan
  • Cost of UCAS application fee
  • Stationery, up to a maximum of £30
  • Books
  • Trips that are an essential part of the learner's Study Programme
  • Examination Resit Fees

To receive support eligible students must meet the ESFA eligibility criteria and be in receipt of one of the benefits below:

If you do not receive any of the benefits shown above you may qualify for help with course related costs and travel costs if you:

  • live with your parents and your gross income is less than £10,000 per year.
  • live independently and your gross income is less than £20.000 per year.
  • live with a partner but without any dependent children and your gross household income is less than £30,000 per year.
  • live independently or with a partner and have dependent children for whom you claim child benefit and your gross household income is less than £40,000 per year.  

 

To see if you are eligible for financial support please apply online through our online application portal.

To prevent your application being delayed please ensure you upload all of the requested financial information, these can be PDF's, photographs or screenshots. We will let you know by email/letter within 10 working days (15 days during Autumn Term) whether or not your application has been successful or if we need further evidence.

  • Once you have submitted this Application Form to the Financial Support Team you will be notified within 10 working days (15 working days during Autumn Term 2024) if any further information is required to support your application.
  • 2.
  • If any further information is required to support your application we will contact you by email and explain what additional information/evidence is required.
  • 3.
  • Your application for support will now be assessed to confirm your eligibility. You will be notified by email the outcome of your application within 10 working days.

If your application is unsuccessful we will email you and let you know the reason why. If you believe the decision made not to support your application is incorrect you can appeal in writing to the Financial Support Team Leader, Student Services, Lincoln College, Monks Road, Lincoln, LN2 5HQ

These Funds are made available through the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and are not available to learners on Full Cost courses, Higher Education courses, Apprenticeships or any waged training undertaken. Other rules and regulations apply, including residency criteria.

If you are 19+ and have chosen to fund your course by an Advanced Learner Loan (ALL), we need confirmation from Student Finance England that you have successfully applied for an Advanced Learner Loan and have also had your National Insurance Number verified by them before we are able to make payments to you.
